Section Officers Promotional Examination SOPE 2026 by FPSC – 30 Vacancies Announced

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has officially announced the Section Officers Promotional Examination (SOPE) 2026 for government employees seeking promotion to Section Officer (BS-17) in the Office Management Group (OMG).

According to the announcement, FPSC will conduct the written examination starting from 22 July 2026. A total of 30 vacancies are available, and eligible candidates currently serving in federal government departments can apply online before the deadline.

This examination is conducted under the SOPE Rules 2015, and successful candidates will go through written tests, psychological assessment, and viva voce.

  • Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat

Superintendents placed in BS-17 but holding substantive post in BS-16 may also apply according to Establishment Division rules.

Ineligible Candidates

Employees from the following organizations are not eligible:

• Subordinate Offices

• Provincial Governments

• AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan Governments

• Election Commission of Pakistan

• Federal Shariat Court

• Semi-Government / Autonomous Bodies / Corporations

• Strategic Organizations such as PAEC, KRL, and AWC

• Employees working below BS-11

• Employees already holding regular BS-17 posts

Examination Components

The SOPE exam consists of the following stages:

• Written Examination: 650 Marks

  • Compulsory Papers: 450 Marks

  • Optional Papers: 200 Marks

• Psychological Assessment

• Viva Voce: 200 Marks

Only candidates who pass the written examination will be invited for psychological assessment and interview.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must have:

• At least Second Division or Grade “C” Bachelor’s degree from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

• Candidates with Third Division in Bachelor’s may apply if they obtained higher division in Master’s degree.

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 30 years

• Age will be calculated on the closing date of applications.

• No age relaxation is allowed.
